WaSH Vulnerability Assessment ToolKit, Sri Lanka; RECA Project, (NCA),2012

 In 2012, National WASH Coordination was led by the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage with active participation from UNICEF and other stakeholders. During the RECA baseline survey conducted in March-April 2012, it was observed that despite the significant advances, WASH coverage data does not include the districts in North and East that are emerging from the civil strife.

Considering the comprehensive need for countrywide assessment of WASH vulnerability assessment with a uniform approach and processes RedR India in collaboration with RECA and UNICEF Sri Lanka developed training package on WASH vulnerability assessment and a toolkit for participatory WASH vulnerability assessment. The training was also piloted with the participation of 30 participants representing government counterparts working at the national and sub-national level, WASH staff from UN agencies and WASH staff of national and international NGOs

Hygiene Promotion Toolkit, (Unicef Chhattisgarh), 2011-12

RedR India in collaboration with UNICEF Chattisgarh rolled out series of workshops on Hygiene Promotion with the community mobilisers working with tribal communities located in remote forests areas of Dantewada during 2011 – 2012. The workshops intended to strengthen the knowledge, skills and perspectives of these volunteers with the aim of effective delivery of the HP messages using IEC material. Existing HP kit at the regional level was to be improved using additional IEC material existing material at National level. These workshops also helped in building the capacities of the PHP team and to demonstrate the hygiene kit and various tools for use in the community.

The series of two workshops resulted in designing of Hygiene Promotion IEC material using participatory methods and pretesting of the same at the community level. The IEC material was designed in two tribal languages i.e. Gondi and Halbi.

Capacity Building on Humanitarian Agency response for NGO partners in coastal Andhra Pradesh (Oxfam GB), 2007-08

The project required RedR India to build key humanitarian technical skills and capacity of NGOs humanitarian staff, community members and project task force members. The focus of the trainings was on WATSAN, Environmental health-hygiene/ public health, from a preparedness risk reduction perspective at the village and cluster level. The assignment contributed to humanitarian preparedness and technical support to the DRR project. Further, it will improve Oxfam International partner NGOs and project community’s capability to respond to an emergency in an effective manner.

WATSAN Project Review and Development of Training Module for Community Maintenance of WatSan Structures in Andaman and Nicobar (Oxfam GB), 2006-07

RedR, India coordinated, organized and facilitated three days state level residential learning workshop for sharing observations, inferences, and recommendations from the participants working in islands, case studies, human interest stories on environmental health related issues in the islands and bringing learning from other humanitarian response from the mainland. RedR, India then prepared the related reading materials for the learning workshop in technical collaboration with Oxfam GB PHP team in islands.
