1. Essentials of Humanitarian Practice (EHP)

The training on Essentials of Humanitarian Practice is aimed at enhancing learning on principles of humanitarian practice and the nature of work in emergency response. This 5-day training involves essential theory and class room based exercises and is ideal for entry and mid-level professionals working in the humanitarian sector and in disaster risk reduction. The course provides a strong introduction and understanding of the humanitarian sector and the specificities of working in difficult contexts. The course blends key aspects of humanitarian work and its theories with case studies and practical simulations leading to an understanding of disasters, conflicts and humanitarian principles along with action; all of which are critical to effective humanitarian action and risk reduction work.
2. Training of Trainers (ToT)

Training of Trainers, a four-day module, is widely recognized by humanitarian aid agencies and enables aspiring and practicing trainers to learn/enhance skills, knowledge and practice of training delivery. This training course is designed to prepare trainers to be able to conduct training needs assessment, develop detailed plans for training, develop a training curriculum, conduct training using advanced training techniques, conduct training follow-up and evaluate training courses in this sector. Participants will also develop plans for their own individual training project to be implemented at the course. They would also be encouraged to team-up with fellow participants and/or trainers to develop, design and deliver training for RedR India.

3. Personal and Team Security Management (PTSM)

Humanitarian and DRR work is often undertaken in unstable and at risk contexts where personal and team security are integral to programme actions. The contents of this course are particularly relevant to humanitarian aid workers and agencies who are involved in relief aid programmes in unstable settings. The overall aim of this course is to enhance participants understanding of the principles and application of security risk management framework. It also delves into personal well-being and safety and provides basic skills on first aid, radio and GPS usage, coping with insecurity, reacting and reporting on security incidents.

4. Common Operational Response Essentials (CORE)

The CORE training is a multi-sector basic humanitarian technical training course that aims to provide fundamental skills and knowledge on humanitarian work to individuals and organizations. It helps all humanitarian, development and government stakeholders who wish to gain a sound introduction and common understanding on Humanitarian Work, Disaster Risk Reduction and Capacity Building. The five-day course provides detailed knowledge and perspectives about humanitarian practice during various phases of the Disaster Management cycle with reference to key components of humanitarian action viz. Shelter, WASH, Logistics and Coordination. The schedule has the scope to be developed according to the organization’s mandates and interests. The sectors mentioned in the draft schedule can be replaced by others like Education in Emergencies, Health in Emergencies, Child Protection and others.

5. Sphere Standards in Humanitarian Practice

This training course aims to enhance the participants’ capacity to understand and apply the Sphere Standards as a tool for humanitarian and DRR decision making and project implementation. The course provides a sound orientation on technical standards and links it to the principles, core standards and legal frameworks that constitute the basis of Sphere Standard. The training would also deal with the practicalities of implementing Sphere in humanitarian response. This four-day course will build a good understanding of the rationale, structure and content of the SPHERE standards, and provide clear understanding on the minimum standards, indicators and key actions on WASH, Food Security and Nutrition, Health Action and, Shelter, Settlement and NFIs.  The course also helps to improve multi-sector understanding and programming skills.
